Granny Smith Apples are light green in color. They are crisp, tart apples and are excellent as a salad component because the slices do not brown as quickly as other varieties. The fruit also tends to have a much harder texture than other apple varieties.
Apples (Granny Smith)
The Granny Smith Apple originated in Australia in 1868 from a chance seedling propagated by Maria Ann Smith, which is where the name "Granny Smith" comes from.
