Beans (Garbanzo, Fresh in the Shell)

Most familiar canned or dried, fresh Garbanzo Beans (also known as chickpeas) are an altogether different eating experience. The nutty green beans are each enveloped in a thin, papery skin; simply sauté, steam or boil with skin on and then pop the bean out of its wrapper with a squeeze.

    For a great finger food add a little salt and pepper; similar to an edamame pod and just as addictive!  Fresh Garbanzos are a favorite of Hispanic and Middle Eastern consumers. The bean can be mashed into dip, used to make falafel or just tossed into a salad.
