Hoja Santa Leaves are velvety, heart-shaped and can grow up to 12 inches or more in size. The texture of the leaves softens when heated while the peppery anise flavor remains.
Hoja Santa Leaves
The leaves of the Hoja Santa herb may be used to wrap tamales, meats or fish to add extra flavor. They are also used to season soups, stews, eggs and cheese. Dip in hot water to make the leaves more malleable.
