The White Onion is a popular cooking onion. This variety is somewhat sweeter then the yellow onion, with a slightly tangy aftertaste. Because white onions have a slightly higher water content they are often used in herbed, spicy stews and salsas.
White Onions make an excellent raw ingredient in potato, pasta or green salads. They keep their shape when sautéed and hold up to simmering long term in casseroles, stews and soups.
