This variety of apple has a solid green exterior with white, fine-grained flesh. The taste is mildly sweet but with a tart, acidic finish which sweetens in storage. Organic Granny Smiths are often used in baking because they hold their shape. Because they are slow to brown try them raw added to spreads, salads or paired with cheeses.
