While the Sugar Snap Pea does not require shelling, there is a string that runs the length of the pod that should be removed before cooking or tossing it in a salad raw. These edible pea pods are sweet and can be enjoyed raw or cooked by boiling, microwaving, steaming or stir-frying, then topping with butter or soy sauce and are entirely edible.
