Turmeric Root is best used peeled and grated, similar to ginger though it is much less pungent. It has a pleasantly mild peppery flavor. Be aware that its vibrant bright orange pulp will impart a yellow color to the dish being prepared.
A staple ingredient in Thai cooking, where it is extensively used in curries, soups, stir-fried dishes, fried foods, pickles, chutneys, snacks and desserts. Turmeric is also the primary ingredient in mustard as both a flavor and color additive.
